Welcome to Delhi! One of our team members will welcome you at the Indira Gandhi International Airport and take you to your hotel, located in Delhi’s Lutyen’s zone. Overnight at the Taj Mahal Hotel.

Day 2

Delhi Captivating old Delhi!

Today we will be touring Old and New Delhi – poles apart in ambience and appearance, yet both retaining an immense sense of history. Old Delhi has a captivating cornucopia of ancient monuments, narrow streets and vibrant markets, which you can experience for yourself as you cycle by rickshaw to the imposing Red Fort – a powerful reminder of the former glories of the legendary Mughal dynasty. After this, we remove ourselves from the chaos of the old city with a foray to Raj Ghat, which was the site of Mahatma Gandhi’s cremation in 1948 and has a memorial dedicated to him. We follow this by returning to Old Delhi with a visit to the Jama Masjid, the largest mosque in India and finally the frantic Chandni Chowk – famous for spices, inexpensive jewellery, fabrics, electronics and several popular eating joints. Despite the crowded lanes and constant, yet friendly beckoning from shopkeepers, it is a captivating place. After lunch we will start with the New Delhi tour by visiting the impressive Qutub Minar, standing 240 feet tall and giving us an insight on what life used to be like centuries ago. We then proceed to explore the fifteenth century Humayun’s Tomb, rightly famed for its intricate, sensitive design and serene atmosphere. A visit to the heart of New Delhi – built by the British at the start of the twentieth century – will take in the iconic India Gate, as well as the President’s House and the Parliament Street. Overnight at the Taj Mahal Hotel.

Day 3

Delhi - Agra The city of Taj!

We will set off early to Agra (210kms/3hrs) today. In the afternoon we will be touring the city as the sun’s out while enjoying the enchanting monuments! This includes visiting the Agra Fort, a labyrinthine complex built by the Mughal emperor Akbar that imposes itself with its mighty walls of red sandstone over the city. One of the Seven Wonders of the World is a must visit, hence we go to see the Taj Mahal at sunset -built by Emperor Shah Jahan in the memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal, the Taj is every bit as sublime as you would expect. Overnight at the Gateway Hotel, Agra.

Day 4

Agra – Jaipur On to the Pink City

A morning drive to Jaipur (240kms/4hrs), via Fatehpur Sikri, a deserted red sandstone city also built by Akbar, where we will make a pit stop to see the Bulund Darwaza or the ‘Gate of Magnificence’, the largest gateway in the world. Overnight at the Taj Jai Mahal Palace, surrounded by monuments and bazars, this palace is an idyllic spot for a royal siesta!

Day 5

Jaipur Forts, Palaces and Bazars!

There’s little that can rival a day tour of the ‘The Pink City’, which is spectacularly set amidst rugged hills and dotted with ancient ruined fortresses a captivating cornucopia of palaces, monuments, royalty, jewelry and crowded lanes and narrow streets. We will have a morning tour of the extravagantly historic Amer Fort, situated on a ridge just outside Jaipur and reached by a jeep ride, followed by a drive past Jal Mahal. The afternoon has been kept for a visit to the City Palace, still home to the Maharajah although several of the rooms are now open to the public, followed by a visit to the Jantar Mantar Observatory. Our tour will end with a visit to the Hawa Mahal, the ‘Palace of the Winds’. Overnight at the Taj Jai Mahal Palace.
